Girls' Hostel
Built in stone it is one of the oldest buildings in the area and houses outstation girls who study at The Wilson College. Built in 1932, the hostel was inaugurated by the then lady Governor Madam Sykes. At a distance of appx. 5mins walk from college, its objective is to provide safe and secure accommodation for girls students. The hostel provides ample opportunities to students keeping their holistic development in mind.
FACILITIES:
Rooms: The Hostel provides accommodation in the form of 20 single rooms, 5 double sharing rooms and 8 triple-sharing rooms and 1 quadruple-sharing room. Electricity is provided 24 hours, 7 days a week. Residents can use their personal electronic appliances which consumes reasonable electricity. Aqua guard cooler is available.
Security: Guards are employed for the night and hostel security employed during the day.
Laundry: Laundry services are provided. There are also washing machines which can be booked for use one day in advance.
Lockers: Lockers are provided on a sharing basis.
Pass system: A resident is allowed take one late pass a week and one stay over (night out) per month to go home.
Timings: The girls have to compulsorily report for a roll call at 8.15pm. Girls on a late pass have to report at 10.15pm. Girls to be back in their rooms by 10.15pm post dinner and lights out by 11.30pm.
Administration: The Hostel appoints a student’s committee who take an active part in administrational activities of the hostel.
Mess: Mackichan Hall Mess serves both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian meals. The kitchen is equipped with modern equipments and great care is taken when it comes to hygiene. The efficient mess workers ensure a smooth functioning of the mess.
Library: The hostel library is open all 24 hrs and consists of many interesting books, newspapers and magazines which the students can borrow.
Internet: Internet facility is available to students. Students are aso allowed to use their laptops and personal connections.
Student Centric Activities:
A number of events are scheduled round the year keeping in view the holistic development of a student:
Literary events: Poetry writing, essay writing, elocution, story-telling.
Cultural events: Regional nite, talent nite, Solo singing and dancing, fresher evening performance, camp fire party, hostel trips.
Sports: Indoor and outdoor games are encouraged. Students who train for district and national championships are allowed to attend their daily training sessions.
Prize distribution Day: Students, teachers, guardians badge a number of awards on this day.
