Wilson College is truely a college for students as we provide all possible facilities to help our students' stay in college to be a comfortable and a memorable one. Wilson college is one among a few colleges in Mumbai that can boast of some of the facilities provided by us for our students.
Especially separate Hostels for both boys and lady students of our College within our Premises. We are also proud that we a few handful of Educational Institutes in Mumbai who has our own Gymkhana ground which is facing the Marine Drive.

Girls Hostel: Pandita Ramabai Hostel
PANDITA RAMABAI HOSTEL
Built in stone it is one of the oldest buildings in the area and houses outstation girls who study at The Wilson College. Built in 1932, the hostel was inaugurated by the then lady Governor Madam Sykes. At a distance of appx. 5mins walk from college, its objective is to provide safe and secure accommodation for girls students. The hostel provides ample opportunities to students keeping their holistic development in mind.
FACILITIES:
Rooms: The Hostel provides accommodation in the form of 20 single rooms, 5 double sharing rooms and 8 triple-sharing rooms and 1 quadruple-sharing room. Electricity is provided 24 hours, 7 days a week. Residents can use their personal electronic appliances which consumes reasonable electricity. Aqua guard cooler is available.
Security: Guards are employed for the night and hostel security employed during the day.
Laundry: Laundry services are provided. There are also washing machines which can be booked for use one day in advance.
Lockers: Lockers are provided on a sharing basis.
Pass system: A resident is allowed take one late pass a week and one stay over (night out) per month to go home.
Timings: The girls have to compulsorily report for a roll call at 8.15pm. Girls on a late pass have to report at 10.15pm. Girls to be back in their rooms by 10.15pm post dinner and lights out by 11.30pm.
Administration: The Hostel appoints a student’s committee who take an active part in administrational activities of the hostel.
Mess: Mackichan Hall Mess serves both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian meals. The kitchen is equipped with modern equipments and great care is taken when it comes to hygiene. The efficient mess workers ensure a smooth functioning of the mess.
Library: The hostel library is open all 24 hrs and consists of many interesting books, newspapers and magazines which the students can borrow.
Internet: Internet facility is available to students. Students are aso allowed to use their laptops and personal connections.
Student Centric Activities:
A number of events are scheduled round the year keeping in view the holistic development of a student:
Literary events: Poetry writing, essay writing, elocution, story-telling.
Cultural events: Regional nite, talent nite, Solo singing and dancing, fresher evening performance, camp fire party, hostel trips.
Sports: Indoor and outdoor games are encouraged. Students who train for district and national championships are allowed to attend their daily training sessions.
Prize distribution Day: Students, teachers, guardians badge a number of awards on this day.

Boys Hostel: Mackichan Hostel
Mackichan Hall has catered to the needs of thousands of students of Wilson College for nearly a century. The residents have found it not only a comfortable home during their college career but also a training ground to mould them into successful and well rounded human beings. We are confident that the Hall will grow stronger and stronger in the service of the Student community of Wilson College and fulfill always the spirit and glorious challenge behind the motto "From Darkness Lead Me To The Light."
The Reverend Dr. Dugald Mackichan
Dr. Dugald Mackichan, the founder of Mackichan Hall was also the principal of Wilson College from 1884-1920. He arrived in India in 1874 just before the death of Dr. John Wilson, the founder of Wilson College. Dr. Mackichan was thus associated with Wilson College for over 47 years.
Facilities:
Mackichan Hall consists of many units which makes it one of the best hostels in Mumbai. The following are the sectors which make Mackichan Hall stand tall and strong among the Best.
Rooms: The hostel provides accommodation in the form of 46 single rooms, 5 double rooms and 5 triple rooms. Every resident is given a study table, a chair and a bed. Electricity is provided 24 hours, 7 days a week. Residents can use their personal electronic appliances which consumes reasonable electricity.
Mess: Mackichan Hall Mess serves both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian meals. The kitchen is equipped with modern equipments and great care is taken when it comes to hygiene. Special water filters and coolers provide 24 hour supply of clean drinking water throughout the year. The huge dining hall can cater to almost 50 residents at a time. The efficient mess workers ensure a smooth functioning of the mess.
Library: The hostel library consists of many interesting books, newspapers and magazines which the students can borrow.
Internet: Our internet cafe is now presently available to the students from 7-10 p.m. on weekdays and 5-10 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
Gym: Body building is one of the activities many boys do. The hostel has a gym, which provides all the equipments at the disposal of the residents. This gym is maintained and kept in good condition by the Indoor Sports Secretary. Along with the gym, the hostel has many other indoor games. Table Tennis Table, Carrom Boards and Chess boards are available to the boys.
Bathrooms: The hostel has bathrooms on all the floors. Water is supplied 24 hours, seven days a week. Both hot and cold water is available. The bathrooms are cleaned and disinfectants are applied at regular intervals on a daily basis. Separate washing rooms are provided for washing clothes.
Volleyball Court: The Hostel has a Volleyball court in Mackichan Hall which also accommodates a Basketball Ring. This court is a multipurpose court for the Mackichanites. The boys play foot-ball and each year there are Volley ball tournaments and cricket tournaments which are held during the evening.
Doctor: The Hostel has a 24 hour doctor associated with it. In case of any emergency, the resident is shifted to the hospital, which is mere 2 minutes walk from the hostel.

Boys Hostel: St. Andrew's House
This residential facility for male students of Wilson College is situated within the campus and accommodate 55 residents. As the name suggests, Saint Andrew’s House is more than a residential facility as we strive to provide a family atmosphere irrespective of your background.
Facilities:
1. Television with cable and satellite connection is provided in the recreational and dining hall.
2. A multi- station Gymnasium is provided on the first floor.
3. Facilities for Indoor games such as table tennis, carom, chess are provided with intra- hostel tournaments held during the academic year.
4. Facilities for Outdoor games such as basketball, football and volleyball are arranged within the campus.
5. A media centre with multi-media computers and internet connection is available for the residents for free of charge but with
time limitation.
6. Two washing machines with 100% dryers are available for the residents for laundry purpose, charges of which are collected
with the term fees.
7. Buffet style (veg and non-veg) dinning service is available for all residents.
8. Token operation coffee machine is available round the clock.
9. Telephone facility is provided to receive incoming calls. An individual room bell system is provided to alert and call the resident.
10. Hot water is available in morning and evening hours.
11. Andrew’s Vision Centre: A Centre for visually challenged is equipped with different assistive technology designed specially
for the visually challenged.
12. ATM, Civil Service Study Centre with well equipped library are situated in the hostel.
13. Hostel organizes seminars and short-term job oriented courses to equip residents to enhance their responsibility.
14. To motivate and encourage residents to excel in academic as well as extra- curricular activities a number of awards have
been instituted.

Library

Wilson College library is amongst the oldest and best in the city of Mumbai. Having a collection of more than 80,000 books periodicals and journals of national and international repute, it has served the academic community well since the College shifted to its present location. The Cd and DVD section also is fast expanding.
Its services include the lending of books for home issue to staff and students. Reference section which has a variety of books from Music to Archaeology, Art to Culinary delights, Astronomy to Religion, Wild life to Science attracts a large number of students daily. It also offers syllabi related and text books for reference in the open section.
The library is almost completing its digitalization and the catalogue is available on-line.There are computers with internet access for the use of staff and students. Library has reprographic facilities for staff and students. The Library is open from 7:30am to 6pm for the benefit of students.
Amongst its treasures are Abu Faizal's Akbarnama. Almost all volumes of the Oriental Christian Spectator started by Dr. John Wilson, Several volumes of the Calendar of the University of Bombay dating from 1864. |

Nature Club
The Nature Club of Wilson College - affiliated to the nature club movement of World Wide Fund for Nature - India (WWF), is one
of the most active college based nature clubs in India. It has an annual membership of 500 members and reaches out to over
10,000 people a year through its activities. The Nature Club while having strongly committed to conservation believes that the
fun element is necessary to have meaningful and sustained contribution by the young to the conservation efforts.
Nature Club - a co-curricular activity with a mission. As a co-curricular activity it offers opportunities to learn, to develop skills,
use talents and have fun. As a mission it attempts to get the uninitiated to enjoy and care for nature, it attempts to spread
awareness about the environment and undertake activities to nurture and help the environment regenerate.
The activities of the nature club include:
• Nature Trails:
A nature trail group has a maximum of 15 members with an instructor. A trail has parts where participants walk soaking in
nature, parts where wonders are pointed out, parts where they discover sights and insights for themselves. The most active phase for nature trails is July to January, where one enjoys the best of monsoon as well as the pleasant onset of winter.
The total group size varies from 45 to 70.
• Overnight Trails:
These are weekend outings which attempt to incorporate nature orientation inputs, including astronomy as well as the ability
to visit wilderness areas a distance over 100 km from Mumbai. These trails include sessions, slide shows, nature
conservation music and nature games along with forest walks in the night and nature trails during the day.
• Nature Camps:
Nature Camps - the wilderness activity most looked forward at - Twice a year in the vacations - a week, two-week long camp. These camps are organized for fifty students at highly subsidized rates at significant National Parks and Wildlife
Sanctuaries in India. These camps are intensive education camps with inputs in Natural History through interactive and
creative exercises, slide shows, panel discussion of issues, astronomy, conservation, lifestyles, action plan, nature music,
nature trails and sometimes adventure activities.
• Conservation Activities:
Include tree planting, developing education material, snake shows amongst many others.
The annual exhibition involving the work of more than hundred volunteers (in 1997 it was over 175 volunteers) is nature club's
most ambitious outreach programme. Every year for the past ten years the nature club exhibitions have reached out to over
7000 visitors annually. The exhibition simulate real life nature conditions. Every year the exhibition takes up a theme.

Chapel

Though situated at the periphery of the College, the Chapel is at the centre of the spiritual life of the college and its quiet beauty and prayerful atmosphere has been a blessing to many.
The Chapel is open during the college hours for private prayer and meditation. Short prayer services that include Hymns and Bible reading are conducted every day during the morning and the afternoon recess in the Chapel.
Apart from the prayer service, special services are held during Christmas as well as the beginning and the end of the academic year. The Chapel also provides counseling services.

Wilson College Gymkhana celebrated its 100th year on March 17, 2010 with garlanding of Dr. Mackichan’s bust at Mackichan Hall, a short Chapel service and hoisting of the Gymkhana flag at the Gymkhana.
The College has a large ground at the Marine Drive which meets the requirements of all outdoor games like Football, Volleyball, Cricket and badminton. Facilities for indoor games like Chess, Carrom, and Table Tennis are also provided. Our coaches put in a dedicated effort to prepare the best possible teams for various events. This along with the sincerity and commitment shown by our boys and girls have resulted in some winning performances. Wilson College gymkhana activities instill the values of discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice, and accountability in the young collegians.
Physical fitness, active participation and outstanding performance by our sportsmen in different games have brought glory to our college at the national and the international levels.
This year parents of Conroy Cranston, a former student, have instituted Conroy Cranston Memorial Scholarships in sports and Conroy Cranston Memorial Trophy for the best boxer in the Academic year. Seven students have benefited from this scholarships and Poornima Dadarkar has won the trophy this year.
Students have done well in boxing at the national, state, district and varsity levels. Poornima Dadarkar won gold at Youth Women’s state boxing championship, West Zone Women’s boxing championship at Jaipur, State Senior Championship, National Senior Championship and DSO Mumbai Tournament. At the DSO Mumbai Tournament, Sagar Patel and Ankit Rane won Silver and Steve Mathew won bronze. Poornima Dadarkar and Sayed Shakeel –ur- Rehman won gold at University Inter-collegiate tournament, Bushan Dethe won silver and Nagesh Naik, Pooja Kadam wone bronze.
In Karate, Taiba Shaikh (FYBA) won gold at district level championship and silver at state level championship.
In Football, Junior College team reached semi finals in Subroto cup and were runners up at inter – collegiate tournaments. Four Sr. College football team members were picked up for Maharashtra team that won the Nationals at Vishakhapatanam.
Sr. College cricket team won KARIZM – ZMR trophy by beating top Mumbai Colleges.
In Athletics, Swapnil Trimbake (FYJC Sc) won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze at the All India Port Trust meet.
In Table Tennis, in the Jr. College DSO event, the team reached Semi Finals which they lost by a narrow margin.
In Chess, in the Jr. College intercollegiate tournament, the team was runners up with Khalid Thakur winning gold.
The Sports day was held on the 16th December 2010 at the Gymkhana. More than 230 students participated in various events.
In the interclass tournaments, a large number of students participated in Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis, Cricket, Football and Badminton matches. The winners were given prizes in the Annual Prize Distribution Function on the 2nd Feb, 2011. |

LCR and MCR
These are well maintained two separate rest rooms which provide personal space for boys and girls students respectively .
- BCR : Boys Common Room available for men students.
- LCR: Ladies Common Room available for lady students. Locker facilities are also provided in the LCR.
A place where students can relax in their respective common rooms during their free time.
Canteen
The canteen is a favourite hangout for students where they can take a break and come back to class with a healthy mind. A good variety of food is available in the canteen which our students and staff relish during break-intervals.
