Chapel Anniversary: The wonderful Thanksgiving Service was held on the 8th of December exactly seventy five years after the dedication of the Chapel in 1935. The programme was held in the College Chapel which looked bright and welcoming, having been painted and its woodwork polished.

Sukanya Akashi welcomed the congregation which consisted of our staff Auxiliary Secretary of students, many ex-students, ex-staff and dignitaries like Rev. Gollapali of the Bible Society of India, John Wilson Educational Society Members, Principals of our sister institutions and other friends.

The Chapel choir rendered spellbinding and soul stirring songs which included Jubilate Deo(rejoice in the Lord)The African Gloria which includes words based on ‘Angels we have Heard on High’, Cantate Domino (sing praises to the LORD). The choir director Prof Ivan John brought out the best in our students. The Wilson college chapel choir not only left us spiritually enlivened but made its way to the first place in various competitions too.

Before our Principal Dr. V.J. Sirwaiya addressed the gathering a beautiful Hindi gospel tune was played, and our principal bowed to the Lord in reverence this was a solemn and sacred moment for all of us and we understood how our authorities of the past too gave their labour, love and service to build this institution as an act of worship to the LORD.

In his address Principal spoke about the History of the Wilson College Chapel, the role it has played in the lives of the college students past and present and the milestones in these past seventy five years.

Reflections by students of the past was another highlight of the service beginning with Dr. Willie Soans (ex-students 1975 and founder of Community of Hope) who sang a spirit filled Urdu song based on Psalm 42. Other Ex- students –Jennifer Sumitra, Jerrin Joy and Amiel Lopez shared their precious moments in Wilson Chapel .Our current students also spoke about the impact the Chapel has had on them shaping them into confident and compassionate individuals prepared to enter the world outside.

The entire congregation joined in singing hymns “we gather together and Joyful Joyful we adore thee’.

The Bible passage from Psalm 138 and Ephesians 5:15 to 20 was read by Prof Loretta Mascarenhas and Minal Ahire from the SYBA.

Our Special Guest The Revd. Dr. Victor Gollapalli, Auxiliary Secretary , Bible Society of India

Brought his greetings in a heartfelt message on the faithfulness of God down the years and the rich legacy Wilson college has left within the souls of its students. He reminded us to continue to pass this on to the generations that follow.

Another special event was the release of the Chapel Magazine. Revd. Gollapalli, Principal Dr. Sirwaiya, Revd. Arpana Rangayya. Mrs. Kshama Jayaraj and Dr. Willie Soans were asked to release the magazine. The magazine consisted of a detailed record of the history of the Chapel, the faith and mission of the founder Dr. John Wilson, the meaning of our college motto FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE and more than fifty articles of life stories and memories of students and staff past and present. It is called ‘A legacy dedicated to the students of the past, present and future who have taken the time to remember their Creator in the days of their youth.

All rose to sing ‘Now thank we all our God’ followed with the closing prayer by Rev. Rangayya . Many staff and students have worked together to make this evening memorable to all.

All joined for dinner at the college quadrangle and the Ex-students dedicated a song composed by them and sung during the dinner. Called ‘the Wilson Song’ all left with these words ringing in their heart .
