Bachelor of Science


Students seeking admission to Bachelor of Science must:

        1) Fill the admission form completely. Incomplete form or form without phone no. address etc. will not be accepted.

        2) Affix one passport size photograph (photo taken on or after 1st April 2011), with name and date of photograph printed on it as             shown below) and attach two same  passport size photograph to the admission form.

        3)   Attach the certificates as mentioned below -
               a)  Original Certificate:         i) XII Marksheet,
                                                               ii) Leaving Certificate

              b)   Xerox copies:                   i) X Mark sheet
                                                               ii) X Passing Certificate
                                                              iii) School Leaving Certificate

 

        Along with the above certificates
             I) Students other than Maharashtra Board (i.e. ICSE / ISC / CBSE students) to attach –        
                    i) Original migration certificate
                   ii) Transfer Certificate

           II) Reserve Category Students to attach Xerox copy of caste certificate.

          III) Christian Minority Student to attach Xerox copy of Baptism Certificate.



         Enrollment & Eligibility

         A)
Students who passed XII from Maharashtra Board will have to fill up enrollment form in the month of August.

         B) Students who passed XII from other than Maharashtra Board (i.e. ICSE / ISC / CBSE, other State Boards etc) will have to fill in               provisional eligibility form in the office before payment of fees.      

University Fees

Courses of Study

     (If sufficient number of students are not available for any particular subject combination - then that Subject Combination will
     be suspended for that academic year and students may opt for any other available combination.)

     Bacherlor of Science (B.Sc)
 

      A three year integrated course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) was introduced in University of Mumbai
      from June 1977.

     A student for the B.Sc. degree is required to take 22 units under the different disciplines as explained below:


     Core (Special Subjects)

        Science Discipline               17 Units
        Foundation Course               2 Units
        Applied component               1 Unit
                                           Total    22 Units

       Each Unit will carry 100 marks


FYBSc - 7 Units
                                                             
                                                   First Year Bachelor of Science



       6 Units of Science discipline + 1 Unit of Foundation Course = Total 7 Units

       A) The college offers the subjects mentioned below :

       C) Foundation Course: Paper I [ Elements of Social and Economic Life in India ].



SYBSc - 7 Units

                                                                           Second Year Bachelor of Science



       6 Units of Science discipline + 1 Unit of Foundation Course = Total 7 Units

       A)   Foundation Course: Paper II -- Scientific Method, Science, Technology and Development.

       B)   A student shall offer Three Units each in any two subjects which were offered at F.Y.B.Sc. according to the
              combinations given below:

            | Mathematics - Computer Science | Chemistry - Biotechnology |

            | Chemistry - Microbiology | Chemistry - Botany | Zoology - Microbiology |

            | Chemistry - Zoology | Botany - Zoology |




       i)   A Unit in case of experimental science subject will carry two term papers of 30 marks each and a practical
            examination of 40 marks.

      ii)  A unit in case of a non-experimental subject will carry two term papers of 50 marks each.
                       


TYBSc - 8 Units

                                                                             Third Year Bachelor of Science

         A)   A student shall offer 6 units in any one of the science subjects offered by him/her at S.Y. B.Sc. level.

         B)  Applied component: (Two papers in the subject associated with the major subject)
                    i)   Electronics Instrumentation (Physics)
                   ii)   Computer Programming and Systems Analysis (Mathematics)
                  iii)   Fishery Biology (Zoology)
                  iv)   Heavy and Fine Chemicals (Chemistry)
                   v)   Horticulture (Botany)
                  vi)   Biotechnology (Microbiology)
